Announcements
The 802 Westie Collective board is happy to announce that we’ve received our determination letter from the IRS – 802 Westie Collective is now recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. While there won’t be too many immediate changes, this status ensures that any left over revenue after expenses can continue to be held to support our charitable mission rather than being diminished by corporate taxes.
Covid-19 policies update:
Vaccination is still encouraged but not required, and last month we changed to masks optional for social dancing. It will be up to the discretion of the instructor whether masks must be worn during classes, so please continue to bring masks with you to class (and social dancing to respect the wishes of those who would prefer to dance with masked partners).
Pricing of 802 Westie Events:
Last month we changed our class and dance pricing to a suggested donation rather than a cost. If you are feeling generous and have the ability to give more, that allows others to give less while still ensuring we cover costs. Thank you for continuing to support 802 Westie Collective and our mission to provide classes and social dancing to the community! (Note that we are now using Square rather than Venmo, so remember to bring your wallet)
Dancing in Vermont
Dancing in the Wilds and Live Music events are often posted to on our Community FaceBook Group for informal, impromptu Social Dancing opportunities. These are community fueled events and we encourage folks to let other community members know where they can find awesome music to dance to around the 802.
Competitions and Events We Are Attending
Canadian Swing Dance Championships May 19-22 in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. A contingent of 802 Westies will be there, talk to Sarah or Jill for more details or questions about registration.
